Looking for input on this important question. What really is the difference between a 36 volt cart and a 48 volt cart. (beyond the 12 volts).
I’ve seem some claims that 36 volt will have more torque. I also hear that 48 volt will give better “performance”. But what are the real details and what is the real truth. What defines “performance” anyway?
Club Car was the first to create a 48 volt cart along with Trojan batteries. Was this a real innovation and step forward? Or was it just a way to sell carts and batteries?

Getting a hitch for my Golf cart was one of the best things I’ve done to improve the utility of the vehicle. It has been absolutely great. I can pull the trailer around, haul stuff easily. For Halloween we packed up to 10 kids in the trailer and drove them around the neighborhood, it was a blast!
A golf car hitch can really transform your cart into a workhorse. The pulling power of even a stock cart is pretty good.

If you are looking at golf carts, you might read or hear some people describe a cart as a “regen”. Regen simply is an abbreviation for Regnerative. Regenerative can mean regenerative breaking, and it can also apply to a regenerative resistance applied with coasting or going down a hill. You will fill the cart slowing itself down with the engine and sending power back to the batteries.
